curious is the fact that this celebration is made identical in the U.S., one of the countries with greater ethnic diversity among residents. Even here in Brazil the ethnic diversity of the population are rich, among other very similar to those of the United States, because, in part, the history between the two countries is similar: first there were the Indians, then came the Europeans who have put everything on fire and created a huge market of Negroes Africans as slaves, then a new wave of Europeans looking for work.
Result? Brazilian blond with blue eyes that recreated the oktoberfest in a region of the south Italian or descendants of Italians who gave name to the neighborhoods and spread the cuisine (one of the traditional dishes of Sao Bernardo do Campo is the rabbit with polenta ) Candomblé (religion of African origin) that is developed and extended to other cultural events, enriching many things including the popular music, and millions of other examples ...
I read some time ago (because I can not cite the source) that countries with vast and multicultural character, they tend, under political influence, to an exaggerated nationalism, being American or Brazilian with the utmost pride in recognize as a 'single banner that attempts to amalgamate (unsuccessfully) citizens as one people and indirectly cancels out the differences.
Brazil, however, from my point of view will never be one people, cultural differences are so vast a country that allows only the infinite existence of different peoples who share a government.
